Tenmile Lakes
Tenmile Lakes near Lakeside Oregon is truly a paradise, a little piece of heaven on earth! It’s the largest and southern most lake system in a chain of lakes south of the mighty Umpqua River. The lakes are named after the creek which is approximately ten miles long and makes it’s way into the Pacific Ocean.
Tenmile Lakes and the little town of Lakeside have a rich history dating back into the mid 1800’s and were a retreat for Hollywood’s rich and famous back in the 1930’s and 40′. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby the Inkspots and many other prominent visitors came to enjoy the natural beauty and incredible salmon fishing of those days.
Today the lake is well known as a premier large mouth bass fishery and has become one of the most highly visited Lakes in Oregon. With it’s spectacular annual Fourth of July firework shows on South Tenmile Lake, the Craw-daddy Festival with its good food, music arts and crafts, Lakeside is about as apple pie and American as it gets!
